West Baden Springs National Historic Landmark

Looking like a fairy-tale castle, the West Baden Springs Hotel has drawn nationwide interest. In the early 1990s, the interest was concern over the long-vacant and collapsing condition of the southern Indiana landmark. In 1996,  Bill and Gayle Cook, Indiana industrialists and preservationists, were recruited by the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana  to help rescue the property. They funded and managed a $34 million stabilization and partial renovation, returning the exteriors of all the buildings to pristine condition and restoring the vast domed atrium, lobby and dining room to gilded glory.

Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana conducts year-round guided tours of the breathtaking property. Tourists shop at the West Baden Springs Emporium for mementos of the visit and distinctive gifts that reflect the grand hotel era.  Tours begin at the main entrance gate on State Road 56 in West Baden Springs.   All tour proceeds benefit the project.   Open all holidays except Christmas day.
