Huddleston Farmhouse

Weary travelers in the early 1800s stopped at the Huddleston family?s farm in Cambridge City for meals, provisions, shelter, and to feed and rest their horses.  Completed in 1841, the Huddleston?s 78-acre farm includes a three-story house, barn, smokehouse and springhouse, all completely restored and furnished with authentic pieces, from the kitchen?s humble wooden bowls to the special-occasion-only chairs in the parlor.  Learn about the daily lives of John, Susannah and their 11 children, plus the travelers who crowded the porches and yard and rented the farmhouse?s two "travelers? kitchens" for cooking and sleeping. Travelers? diaries, archaeological digs, county records, and recollections of the Huddlestons? descendants are part of the guided tour that paints a rich picture of real lives in a young state.

Tours begin every half hour Wednesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Closed major holidays and the month of January.
